Wartburg College from Waverly, Iowa, sends its celebrated 80-voice Wartburg Choir for its fourth performance on the Abendmusik series. Iowa’s Harlan Community High School Concert Choir will be featured in a concert sure to awaken the soul.

The Kaleidoscope Vocal Ensemble shines light on the intersection of music and social justice, offering performances of artistic excellence that celebrate racial, ethnic, and gender diversity. Led by Arianne Abela, nine professional singers will bring their uniquely kaleidoscopic vocal chamber music to the Midwest for the first time.
The Nebraska Wesleyan Unity Choir and Omaha Central High School Choir will be featured as well.

The Conservatory Singers from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory presents “Transformation: Times Are Changing”. The program focuses on how music can be a driving force to make a difference in our world. The choir will present works by Jocelyn Hagen, Reena Esmail, William Dawson, Anton Bruckner, Bob Dylan, and others. The 36-member Conservatory Singers are conducted by Director of Choral Studies, Jennaya Robison.
Dr. Jennaya Robison is the Raymond R. Neevel/Missouri Professor, Director of Choral Studies in the Conservatory at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In demand as a conductor, clinician and soprano throughout the United States, Robison has presented at national, regional, and state ACDA, NAfMe, and NATS conferences and has served as an invited conductor and clinician for numerous All State festivals and honor choirs.

Lincoln’s favorite New Year’s Eve tradition continues when the spectacular Plymouth Brass joins one of America’s most celebrated young organists, Yale University’s Nathaniel Gumbs, to pull out all the stops for the final concert event of 2022.

These extraordinary songs of faith, of suffering, of affirmation and great joy offer a depth of expression and variety that stir the soul. Please join Tenor Limmie Pulliam and Pianist Mark Markham on this journey, Sunday, September 18 at 4:00 p.m., either in person at First-Plymouth Church or online at abendmusik.org. Advance reservations are not required, and in-person seating is first-come, first-served.
This special recital is generously underwritten by First-Plymouth Church and Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra. A freewill offering will be collected to benefit First-Plymouth Church’s JustNeighbors initiative. All contributions go directly to pay off medical debt in central Lincoln.
