2015 Abendmusik Children's Choir Festival: music that inspires

Children's choirs (grades 3 through 5) from the region are invited to gather in Lincoln's First-Plymouth Church on Saturday, March 21 for the fifth annual Abendmusik Children's Choir Festival. We welcome special guest conductor Vicki Hancock Wright, a sought-after children's choir leader and nationally-celebrated composer from Nashville, to guide our young singers. The children will learn four pieces with their home choirs in advance of our festival day, then the singers assemble on Festival Day to rehearse with Ms. Wright.  This year's festival will culminate with the children singing in an evening performance at the Lied Center as part of the Nebraska Sings program.

2015 Abendmusik Youth Choir Festival: music that inspires

Youth choirs (grades 6 through 12) from the region are invited to gather in Lincoln's First-Plymouth Church on Saturday, May 16 for the third annual Abendmusik Youth Choir Festival. We welcome dynamic and engaging guest conductor Lynnel Joy Jenkins, a nationally-known youth choir expert and clinician from Princeton, New Jersey. The youth will prepare the festival repertoire with their home choirs in advance of our festival day, then the singers assemble on Festival Day to rehearse with Ms. Jenkins, culminating in a midday concert.  In addition to the singing, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy break-out sessions including workshops on handbell ringing, African drumming, and a behind-the-scenes tour of the 6000-pipe Lied Organ!  Registration information will be available on January 1.
